The HERTEL H95006008 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose holemaking in metal, wood, and plastic. Sized at 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch decimal), it features a 137-degree split point that reduces walking and lowers the thrust required to start a hole without a center punch. The oxide and TiN dual-coat finish provides surface hardness and mild lubricity to extend tool life in moderate-duty cutting operations. With a 3-1/2 inch overall length and 1-3/4 inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and magnetic drill press setups used daily in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical rough-in work.
This bit is suited for drilling through sheet metal, pipe hangers, electrical enclosures, structural brackets, and similar workpieces encountered in mechanical and electrical trade work. The right-hand spiral flute with regular helix efficiently evacuates chips during through-hole drilling in both hand drills and drill presses. The heavy-duty grade and ANSI specification designation make it appropriate for repetitive production drilling as well as one-off field cuts. Three flats on the shank help prevent slippage in standard drill chucks.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit compatible with any 3/8 inch or larger keyed or keyless drill chuck accepting straight-shank bits; fits drill presses, hand drills, and right-angle drills commonly used in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical installation work.
Installation of this bit requires a properly sized drill chuck; ensure the chuck is fully tightened against the three flats on the shank before operating. Always wear appropriate eye and hand protection when drilling metal. Secure the workpiece firmly before beginning the cut to prevent rotation or movement. Consult applicable trade safety codes and employer guidelines for drilling operations on energized or pressurized systems.
