The HERTEL H59875518 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It carries the TPCG320.5 style designation and is manufactured to the HP520B grade, featuring a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) titanium nitride (TiN) coating for improved wear resistance and tool life. The insert has a 60-degree included angle triangle (TPCG) geometry with an 11-degree relief angle and a 0.007-inch corner radius, making it well suited for finish and semi-finish boring passes where dimensional accuracy is critical. Right-hand cutting orientation is standard. Installation is via screw-lock clamping.
This insert is used in boring bar toolholders configured for TPCG-style triangle inserts in screw-on clamping systems. It is appropriate for machining steel, cast iron, and similar materials in the C5 material grade range. Typical applications include bore finishing, internal diameter turning, and light roughing on production and job-shop turning equipment. The TiN PVD coating reduces friction and extends tool life in continuous-cut boring applications on ferrous workpieces.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or equivalent for boring bar toolholders accepting TPCG-style triangle inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and screw-lock clamping. Manufacturer catalog number TPCG3205R. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping screw specification before installation.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the boring bar manufacturer's specification using the correct Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and safe tool engagement.
