The HERTEL H59873968 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual turning centers. Formed in a 60-degree triangle (TPCB) geometry, this insert features a 0.002-inch corner radius that supports fine finishing and light-to-moderate roughing in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The uncoated carbide construction in material grade C1 delivers consistent cutting performance where coatings are unnecessary or undesirable. Screw-type holding secures the insert firmly in compatible boring bar pockets. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians working in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments rely on this insert geometry for accurate bore sizing.
This insert is suited for internal diameter boring on lathes and machining centers where a triangular TPCB-style insert is specified. The 1/4-inch inscribed circle (IC) and 3/32-inch thickness place it in the light-duty boring category, appropriate for small-bore applications in steel, cast iron, and similar materials at the C1 carbide grade range. It seats in boring bars and holders designed to accept TPCB-style screw-lock inserts with an 11-degree relief angle.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for boring bars and toolholders that accept TPCB-style screw-lock inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 11-degree relief angle.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and all motion arrested before handling cutting inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the boring bar manufacturer's specified method — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
