The HERTEL H59873521 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual turning equipment. Built to the TDHB style with a 60-degree triangular geometry, this insert features a 1/32 inch (0.0310 inch) corner radius and a 5/32 inch (0.1600 inch) inscribed circle diameter. At 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) thick with a 15-degree relief angle, it delivers clearance and edge stability suited to tight-tolerance bore work. The uncoated carbide construction makes it appropriate for finishing passes on non-ferrous metals and materials where coating transfer is a concern. Machinists and CNC operators install and index this insert as part of a screw-held boring bar system.
This insert is intended for internal boring applications in production and job-shop environments. The TDHB insert style and triangular shape make it a fit for dedicated boring heads and compatible boring bar holders that accept screw-clamped triangular inserts with the 1.280.752 size code. Typical applications include finish boring of housings, bushings, bearing bores, and similar cylindrical features where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. The 15-degree relief angle reduces rubbing on the bore wall during light to moderate feed-rate operations.
Designed as a screw-held replacement boring insert for boring bars and heads accepting TDHB-style triangular inserts with size code 1.280.752 and a 5/32 inch inscribed circle.
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered off and all axes at a safe position. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the boring bar manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can affect runout and bore accuracy. Follow the boring bar manufacturer's guidelines for insert orientation and screw torque.
