The HERTEL H59870766 is a solid carbide indexable boring bar designed for precision internal diameter machining on CNC lathes and boring mills. Built to the HBBS toolholder style, it features a 1-inch shank diameter and a minimum bore diameter of 1.105 inches, allowing it to reach into tight bores with rigidity and accuracy. The 12-inch overall length supports a maximum bore depth of 10 inches, making it well suited for deep-bore applications where deflection control is critical. Insert retention is handled by a screw-clamping method, providing consistent seating and repeatable tool positioning. Coolant-through capability is built in, helping to evacuate chips and manage heat at the cutting zone.
This boring bar is used in production and job-shop environments where tight bore tolerances are required on medium to large workpieces. It is a right-hand cut configuration, appropriate for conventional spindle rotation on most CNC turning centers and horizontal boring mills. The solid carbide bar construction reduces vibration compared to steel-shank alternatives, which is an advantage in longer-reach or interrupted-cut scenarios. It is installed and set up by machinists and toolroom technicians working to print tolerances on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use with TD and TP series indexable inserts. Fits standard 1-inch bore bar pockets and toolholding systems on CNC turning centers and boring mills that accept round-shank toolholders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the bar from the tool turret or boring head. Ensure the shank seating surface and bore pocket are clean and free of chips before clamping. When indexing inserts, use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the insert screw standard to avoid stripping the clamping screw.
