The HERTEL H48441992 is a solid carbide boring insert in WPGT style, designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. This trigon-shaped insert features an 80-degree included angle and an 11-degree relief angle, providing good clearance in tight bore profiles. The HF1 chipbreaker geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during finishing passes. With a 3/16-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0080-inch corner radius, the H48441992 is suited for fine-tolerance boring where dimensional accuracy and surface finish matter. The uncoated solid carbide substrate at material grade C1 offers rigidity and edge sharpness for non-ferrous and cast iron applications. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and toolroom technicians.
This insert is intended for use in boring bars and boring heads configured for WPGT-style inserts with screw-type holding. At 1/16-inch thick and a 3/16-inch inscribed circle, it fits toolholders dimensioned for compact internal turning work. Typical applications include finish boring of bearing bores, hydraulic valve bodies, and precision housings in job shop and production environments. The uncoated finish makes it particularly effective in applications where coating adhesion to workpiece material is a concern, such as non-ferrous alloys and some cast irons.
Designed for use in boring bars and toolholders accepting WPGT-style inserts with screw-type clamping. Confirm toolholder insert pocket specifications match the 3/16-inch inscribed circle and 1/16-inch insert thickness before installation.
Installation of indexable boring inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver for the insert clamping screw and inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the toolholder and insert combination in use.
