The HERTEL H08716052 is an indexable internal threading toolholder designed for single-point thread-cutting operations on lathes and turning centers. Built to the HSIR series standard, it accepts 8IR inserts secured by a screw clamp, providing repeatable edge positioning and quick index changes without disturbing the setup. The shank measures 0.62 inches in diameter and the toolholder runs 5 inches overall in length, making it suited for boring bar-style internal threading applications. This tool is intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians performing precision internal thread cutting in production and job-shop environments.
The H08716052 is configured for right-hand cutting in internal threading applications. The head length of 0.70 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension of 0.307 inches allow controlled positioning within bored holes. The center to cutting edge measurement is 0.210 inches. Insert compatibility is rated for 8IR inserts with a 3/16 inch inscribed circle, a common geometry for fine to medium pitch internal threading. This toolholder does not include through-coolant capability, so flood or mist coolant delivery must be directed externally at the cutting zone during operation.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable toolholder accepting 8IR series threading inserts for internal right-hand thread-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank in a properly sized boring bar holder or turret station and torque the insert screw according to the insert manufacturer specification before cutting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Verify tool centerline height relative to the workpiece centerline before engaging the threading cycle, as off-center mounting directly affects thread form accuracy.
