The HERTEL H08700312 is an internal, right-hand indexable threading toolholder designed for precision thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and boring applications. Built in the HSIR style, it accepts 22IR inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method for repeatable, rigid positioning. The toolholder features a 1 inch shank diameter and an overall length of 8 inches, with a minimum bore diameter of 1.16 inches. These dimensions make it well-suited for threading internal bores where clearance and reach are critical. Licensed HVAC and machining trade professionals installing or specifying boring bar assemblies will recognize the HSIR style as a common platform across major tooling systems.
This toolholder is used in internal threading applications on CNC and manual lathes where a right-hand cut is required. The 1.16 inch minimum bore diameter limits its use to workpieces with adequate bore clearance. The back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension is 1.16 inches and the center to cutting edge dimension is 0.71 inches, giving machinists precise knowledge of tool offset when programming tool paths or setting up manual passes. It does not include coolant-through capability, so external coolant delivery should be arranged when cutting harder materials or at higher speeds.
Designed for use with 22IR threading inserts featuring a 1/2 inch inscribed circle. Style designation is HSIR-1000-10-22, part of the HSIR series of internal threading toolholders.
Installation of this toolholder should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before mounting. Confirm shank diameter matches the turret or boring bar holder bore before securing. Verify minimum bore diameter clearance on the workpiece before beginning any threading pass. Follow the toolholder and machine manufacturer guidelines for insert torque and clamping procedures.
