The HERTEL H08614927 is a solid carbide indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built to the HBBQ toolholder style, this right-hand-cut bar accepts WPGT-series inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method, providing reliable insert positioning and repeatable cutting performance. It features a 0.54-inch minimum bore diameter, a 0.5-inch shank diameter, and an 8-inch overall length, making it well suited for reaching moderate-depth bores with rigidity. Coolant-through capability allows cutting fluid to be delivered directly at the cutting zone, extending insert life and improving chip evacuation in deep-bore applications. Machinists and CNC operators install and service this tooling.
This boring bar is used in production and job-shop environments where consistent bore geometry and tight tolerances are required. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard boring bar holders and quick-change tooling systems common on CNC turning centers. With a maximum bore depth of 5 inches and an overall length of 8 inches, the H08614927 handles a range of through-bore and blind-bore scenarios in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The solid carbide construction resists deflection better than steel-shank alternatives at this diameter-to-reach ratio, which is critical when holding bore tolerances in harder workpiece materials.
Designed for use with WPGT-series indexable inserts. Fits standard 0.5-inch shank boring bar holders on CNC lathes and turning centers. Refer to the HBBQ-C500R/L3-8.0-.540 toolholder family for insert grade and geometry selection guidance.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an estop or locked-out state before mounting or adjusting tooling. Torque the insert screw and tool clamp to the toolholder manufacturer's specification using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and compatible with the machine turret coolant supply before engaging the coolant circuit.
