The HERTEL H08614893 is a solid carbide indexable boring bar designed for precision internal diameter machining on CNC lathes and boring machines. Built to the HBBQ toolholder style, it accepts WPGT inserts secured by a screw-lock clamping method, providing repeatable insert positioning and rigid setup. The bar features a 3/8-inch shank diameter, a minimum bore diameter of 0.415 inches, and an overall length of 6 inches. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management during deep-bore operations. This tool is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, production environments, or maintenance machining.
This boring bar is suited for left-hand-cut boring operations where the tool feeds from left to right or where workholding and machine orientation require a left-hand configuration. The maximum bore depth of 3.75 inches makes it applicable for through-bore and blind-bore work on small-diameter features in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The solid carbide body provides greater rigidity and vibration damping compared to steel-shank alternatives at this diameter, making it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed for use with WPGT style inserts. Fits machines and toolholding systems accommodating a 3/8-inch round shank boring bar. No additional compatible model numbers or system families were specified in the product data.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with boring bar toolholding and insert indexing procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in a safe, locked-out state before changing inserts or adjusting the bar in the holder. Confirm shank-to-holder bore fit and clamping torque according to your machine tool manufacturer guidelines before cutting. Verify coolant-through lines are clear and connected if using the internal coolant feature.
