The HERTEL H08614752 is a steel indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations in metalworking applications. Built to the HBBG toolholder style, this left-hand cutting bar accepts WPGT inserts secured by a screw clamping method, providing rigid insert retention and repeatable positioning. It features a 1/4 inch shank diameter and an overall length of 4 inches, with a minimum bore diameter of 0.285 inches and a maximum bore depth of 1.0 inch. Coolant-through capability helps manage chip evacuation and heat at the cutting zone, extending insert life in demanding bore finishing and sizing work.
This boring bar is suited for small-diameter internal machining operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in production shops, tool rooms, and maintenance machining environments. The left-hand cut orientation makes it appropriate for specific setups where conventional right-hand bars are not practical, such as back-boring or reverse-spindle configurations. Licensed machinists and tooling setup technicians are the primary users of this bar in production and job-shop settings.
Designed for use with WPGT series indexable inserts. Toolholder style is HBBG. Verify insert geometry and grade selection against your specific workpiece material and cutting conditions before installation.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with indexable toolholder systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or changing inserts. Secure the shank firmly in the boring bar holder at the recommended overhang to minimize deflection, and torque the insert clamping screw according to the insert manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before each insert change.
