The HERTEL H05766977 is a laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal NPTF threads at 11.5 threads per inch (TPI). Manufactured from solid carbide with a TiC/TiN multilayer coating, this insert delivers consistent thread form and extended tool life in demanding threading operations. The 16ER insert style seats in compatible laydown toolholders and features a right-hand cutting geometry. With a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.146 inches, it is sized for standard threading applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This insert is used by machinists and toolroom technicians in production and maintenance environments.
This insert is suited for internal NPTF tapered pipe thread operations in machining centers, CNC lathes, and manual turning equipment. NPTF threads are a common requirement in fluid-system components, fittings, and hydraulic or pneumatic assemblies found across industrial, plumbing, and fluid-power applications. The right-hand cutting orientation and 11.5 TPI specification make this insert appropriate for 3/8 inch and compatible NPTF pipe thread sizes used in production threading cycles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement threading insert for 16ER-style laydown toolholders used in internal NPTF threading applications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert clamp to the correct seating torque. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper form accuracy.
