The HERTEL H00208264 is a solid carbide, uncoated boring insert in the TPGT style, designed for precision internal boring operations on lathes and boring bars. This insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with an 11-degree relief angle and a 1/64 inch (0.0150 inch) corner radius, making it well suited for finishing and light interrupted cuts in non-ferrous and cast iron materials. It is held in place by a screw-clamping system and carries the HF2 chipbreaker geometry for optimized chip control. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this insert during lathe setup as a direct drop-in for compatible TPGT toolholders.
This insert is intended for use in precision boring applications where a tight corner radius and consistent chip flow are required. The solid carbide substrate and uncoated finish make it appropriate for finishing passes on aluminum, copper alloys, and other non-ferrous metals where coating buildup on cutting edges would degrade surface finish. It fits boring bars and toolholders accepting the TPGT 32.51 insert size with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as a direct replacement-style insert for toolholders accepting TPGT 32.51 size inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and screw-holding method. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping screw compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the lathe or machining center before changing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or insert wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the toolholder seat for chips or damage before seating the new insert.
