The HERTEL GH071064 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Manufactured from M7 high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it offers increased surface hardness and heat resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 1 inch cutting diameter and 4 inch length of cut make it well-suited for deep-slot and side-milling applications. A 42-degree helix angle promotes aggressive chip evacuation while reducing cutting forces. With 2 flutes and centercutting capability, this end mill can plunge directly into workpiece material as well as perform conventional milling passes.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual or CNC milling machines where a long-reach, large-diameter HSS tool is required. The long-length configuration (6.5 inch overall length) provides clearance for deep-pocket and stepped-surface applications. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry suits standard spindle rotation. Machinists and toolroom professionals working with steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials will find this tool appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing cuts at moderate feeds and speeds.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill with a 1 inch straight shank, compatible with ER collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks sized for 1 inch shank tooling on manual and CNC milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the tool holder and torque the retention screw or collet nut to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and reduces surface finish quality.
