The HERTEL GG99914281 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication, tool rooms, and machining centers. Manufactured from M7 high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 5/8 inch diameter cutting face, four flutes, and a 30-degree right-hand helix angle. The 4 inch length of cut and 6.125 inch overall length make it well suited for moderate-depth slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional side cutting. This end mill is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC machine operators working with steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers performing slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations. The spiral flute design and 30-degree helix promote efficient chip evacuation during cuts in ferrous metals. The regular length classification makes it a standard replacement or stocking item for general shop applications where extended reach tooling is not required. The 5/8 inch shank diameter matches standard collet and end mill holder sizes common in both manual and CNC setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or stocking end mill for standard 5/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders used in vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator using an appropriate collet chuck or end mill holder rated for the 5/8 inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool in the holder to confirm proper concentricity before cutting. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine manufacturer guidelines for tooling installation and operating speeds.
