The HERTEL GG080116 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Manufactured from M7 high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 1-1/4 inch mill diameter, 2 spiral flutes, and a 30-degree helix angle. The long-series geometry provides a 3 inch length of cut and a 5-1/2 inch overall length, making it well suited for deep-pocket and slot milling where additional reach is required. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Cutting and flute direction are both right hand. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments.
The GG080116 is used in vertical milling machines, manual knee mills, and CNC machining centers. Its long length of cut range, rated for 2 inches and above, makes it a practical choice for deep slot milling, peripheral milling, and step milling operations. The 1 inch shank diameter suits standard ER or end mill holders commonly found in both manual and CNC setups. It is appropriate for ferrous materials and general shop steel work where an uncoated HSS tool provides adequate tool life without the cost of coated carbide.
Designed as a standard long-series square end mill with a 1 inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks, Weldon-style end mill holders, and side-lock holders sized for a 1 inch shank in vertical mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and power locked out per shop safety procedures. Secure the 1 inch shank in a properly sized, clean holder and torque set screws or collet nuts to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the shank and cutting edges for damage before mounting. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before starting the operation.
