The HERTEL GG030018 is a cobalt square end mill designed for metal removal in milling applications requiring durability and heat resistance. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. The 9/32-inch cutting diameter and 9/16-inch length of cut make it well suited for light-to-medium slotting and peripheral milling passes. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The bright, uncoated finish allows machinists to inspect tool wear easily and makes it a cost-effective general-purpose option for job shops and tool rooms.
This end mill is used in vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills across production and maintenance environments. Its single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on steel, stainless, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into a workpiece. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with tight-tolerance slots, pockets, and contours will find this tool appropriate for everyday roughing and light finishing cuts.
Designed as a general-purpose cobalt square end mill compatible with standard 3/8-inch collets and end mill holders used in vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with toolholder torque requirements and runout specifications for the specific machine being used. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Verify collet or end mill holder cleanliness and proper seating depth before tightening. Follow the machine manufacturer and shop safety guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut when setting up this tool.
