The HERTEL GG021064 is a single-end ball end mill designed for milling contoured surfaces, slots, and complex three-dimensional profiles in metalworking applications. Manufactured from M7 high speed steel with an uncoated finish, this end mill features a 1 inch cutting diameter and a 4 inch length of cut, making it well suited for deep-reach milling passes. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. With a 1 inch shank diameter and a 6.5 inch overall length, this tool fits standard milling machine and machining center collets and holders used by toolroom machinists and production mill operators.
This ball end mill is intended for use in conventional and CNC milling operations requiring a full-radius profile at the cutting tip. Its 4-inch length of cut allows access to deeper cavities and pocketing operations that shorter tools cannot reach. The M7 high speed steel construction is appropriate for general-purpose milling of steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials at moderate cutting speeds. It is a single-end tool, so the full shank length is available for secure clamping in milling chucks, end mill holders, or collet chucks.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard toolroom end mill for milling machines and machining centers accepting a 1 inch diameter straight shank end mill holder or collet chuck.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder or collet to the minimum insertion depth required for safe clamping, and verify tool runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting speeds and feeds for HSS end mills.
