The HERTEL G127012T-S is a standard pipe tap designed to cut internal NPT-threaded connections in metal pipe fittings, couplings, and ported components. It produces a 1/16-27 NPT thread profile, the smallest common tapered pipe thread size, used in instrumentation ports, hydraulic fittings, and small-bore fluid system connections. The tap is machined from high speed steel and coated with titanium nitride (TiN) for improved surface hardness and wear resistance. Overall length is 2.1875 inches. The four-flute, regular-hook geometry provides balanced chip evacuation in through-hole and shallow blind applications. Installation is performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and machinists as part of field or shop fabrication work.
This tap is suited for creating 1/16-27 NPT internal threads in ferrous and non-ferrous metals including steel, iron, brass, and aluminum. Typical applications include tapping pressure ports, sensor bosses, instrument fittings, and small-diameter pipe connections in HVAC, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The compact 2.1875-inch overall length allows use in confined spaces and standard tap handles or machine-tapping setups. Sold individually.
Designed for tapping 1/16-27 NPT internal threads in standard pipe fittings, manifolds, and ported components made from ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Fits standard tap handles and machine-tapping chucks sized for this tool shank.
This tap is installed by plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and machinists using a standard tap wrench or tapping machine. Always use appropriate cutting fluid for the base material to extend tool life and produce clean threads. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the tap is started square to the hole centerline to avoid thread misalignment or tap breakage. Follow applicable codes such as IFGC or IPC when creating threaded connections in gas or water piping systems.
