The HERTEL F.924.2619 is a reduced shank twist drill bit engineered for drilling through ferrous metals, stainless steel, hardened alloys, and other demanding materials. The bit is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel, which retains hardness at elevated cutting temperatures, extending tool life compared to standard HSS bits. It features a 135-degree split-point tip that reduces thrust force and allows self-centering without a pilot hole. With a cutting diameter of 1.0312 inches and a 3/4-inch straight-cylindrical reduced shank, it is compatible with standard drill chucks and milling machine spindles that accept 3/4-inch shanks. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance trades install this bit in drill presses and milling machines for general-purpose production and maintenance drilling applications.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in metalworking environments including job shops, maintenance facilities, and manufacturing floors. The reduced shank design allows a larger cutting diameter to be run in a 3/4-inch chuck or collet, eliminating the need for a larger spindle or chuck upgrade. With a flute length of 3 inches and an overall length of 6 inches, it handles moderate-depth holes in plate, bar stock, and structural sections. A straw finish indicates a heat-treatment process that adds surface hardness without additional coating thickness.
Designed for use in drill presses, milling machines, and other spindles equipped with a 3/4-inch straight chuck or collet. Suitable for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals per the manufacturer's general-purpose tool performance rating.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or skilled trades professional familiar with metal-cutting operations. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing bits. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for cobalt drill bits at this diameter to avoid work hardening or premature tip failure.
