The HERTEL F.901.2619 is a reduced shank twist drill bit engineered for drilling large-diameter holes in metal, wood, and general-purpose materials using standard 3/4-inch chuck equipment. The bit features a 1.0312-inch cutting diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank ground to 3/4 inch, allowing it to seat in chucks that cannot accommodate a full-size shank. The 118-degree split point provides positive starting without a center punch on most surfaces. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, the F.901.2619 resists heat buildup during extended drilling cycles and suits general-purpose shop and field applications where a full-shank bit is not practical.
This reduced shank drill bit is intended for machinists, tool-and-die technicians, maintenance mechanics, and fabricators working in production or job-site environments. The 3-inch flute length accommodates drilling depths up to 3 inches, and the 6-inch overall length gives clearance in most drill press and hand-drill setups. It is suited for drilling through mild steel, aluminum, brass, plastics, and similar materials where a standard jobber-length bit in this diameter range is needed without requiring a large-bore chuck.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with drill presses, magnetic drills, and hand drills equipped with 3/4-inch or larger chucks.
Install this bit into a properly sized chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the drill press table or workpiece is clamped before beginning the cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and reduce heat. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace if chipping or dulling is observed.
