The HERTEL EM060020 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 0.3125-inch cutting diameter, a 1.125-inch length of cut, and a 3.0-inch overall length with a matching 0.3125-inch shank diameter. The four-flute, right-hand cutting configuration combined with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. An AlTiN coating adds thermal and wear resistance, making this end mill well-suited for high-speed cutting in ferrous and hardened materials. Micrograin carbide substrate contributes to edge retention and consistent tool life across extended production runs. Installed by machinists and toolroom professionals in CNC and manual milling operations.
This ball end mill is appropriate for contouring, profiling, slotting, and 3D milling operations in ferrous metals, alloy steels, and other hard materials where heat generation is a concern. The single-end configuration and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. Its compact diameter makes it suitable for fine detail work, cavity milling, and applications where tight tolerances or complex geometry require a precision ball nose profile.
Designed as a standard 5/16-inch shank solid carbide ball end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 0.3125-inch shank tooling on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify collet or holder bore diameter matches the 0.3125-inch shank before clamping. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool data for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material.
