The HERTEL EG250020 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built from solid carbide and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, it delivers hardness and wear resistance suited to high-speed cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool measures 0.3125 inches in diameter with a 0.8125-inch length of cut, a 5/16-inch shank diameter, and a 2.5-inch overall length. The 4-flute geometry provides a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish quality. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals reach for this end mill when close-tolerance profiling, contouring, and slot work are required.
This end mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills in job shop, production, and maintenance-and-repair machining applications. The solid carbide construction and TiCN coating make it a practical choice for cutting alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and harder non-ferrous alloys. The ball-end profile is used for 3D contouring, cavity work, and blending radii. The compact 0.3125-inch diameter is appropriate for detail work and tight-pocket applications where a larger tool cannot reach. A single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than flipped when worn.
Designed as a standard shank end mill compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling accepting a 5/16-inch shank diameter on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 5/16-inch shank fully in the collet or holder and torque the retention hardware to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before use. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against published carbide end mill data for the workpiece material before beginning a cut.
