The HERTEL EF99921278 is a two-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It measures 0.375 inches in diameter with a 0.5625-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length. The shank diameter matches the cutter at 0.375 inches, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Manufactured from high speed steel with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, it offers improved wear resistance and surface hardness compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during cutting operations. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators use this end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling applications.
This end mill is suited for light-to-medium milling work on manual mills and CNC machining centers. The centercutting design allows plunge cuts directly into workpiece material without pre-drilling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional and climb milling setups. The 30-degree helix angle balances cutting forces and chip flow across a range of materials including mild steel, aluminum, and engineering plastics. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is used from one end only and is not reversible.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for standard 3/8-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles accepting a 0.375-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with cutting tool safety. Always ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the power is locked out before loading or unloading the end mill. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder to minimize runout and prevent pullout during cutting. Inspect the cutting edges and TiCN coating for chips or wear before each use; a damaged edge can cause workpiece damage or tool breakage.
