The HERTEL EF050028 is a double-end, square-profile end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal-cutting environments. Built from high speed steel with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutter measures 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) in diameter with a 13/16 inch length of cut and a 1/2 inch shank diameter, making it compatible with standard milling chucks and collet systems. With two spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, it produces efficient chip evacuation during climb or conventional milling passes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
This end mill is suited for use on manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and toolroom mills. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life and reducing cost per edge. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole, which is useful in die-sinking and pocket-milling applications. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle rotation. Typical applications include light-to-medium material removal on steel, aluminum, brass, and similar machinable alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool for milling applications requiring a 7/16 inch diameter, 1/2 inch shank, two-flute square end mill in high speed steel construction.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotary cutting tool handling. Secure the shank fully into a clean, burr-free collet or chuck to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting diameter when selecting feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material.
