The HERTEL EF030008 is a 2-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal and composite materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it offers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutting diameter is 0.125 inches with a 0.375-inch length of cut and a 0.375-inch shank diameter, making it a reduced-neck configuration suited to light-duty profiling, slotting, and plunge cuts. The 30-degree spiral helix promotes smooth chip evacuation. This tool is installed and used by machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers in job shop and production environments.
The EF030008 is appropriate for light milling applications including slotting, profiling, and step milling in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, adding versatility in multi-axis setups. The 2-flute configuration provides adequate chip clearance in softer materials and in applications where chipload per tooth is a primary concern. Overall length is 2.3125 inches, keeping the tool compact for setups with limited Z-axis clearance. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC milling spindles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use square end mill for standard ER or straight-shank collet systems accepting a 0.375-inch shank diameter. Verify machine spindle taper and collet size before installation.
Installation and use of this end mill should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or tool holder. Confirm collet runout is within acceptable tolerance before machining, as runout on a 0.125-inch diameter tool accelerates wear and increases breakage risk. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for feeds, speeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
