The HERTEL E8053040 is a square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M7 high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and longer tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 5/8 inch diameter cutter features 4 flutes with a 30-degree right-hand helix and spiral flute geometry, producing efficient chip evacuation during slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. With a 1-3/8 inch length of cut and 5 inch overall length, it suits a range of medium-depth milling applications. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for use in manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and bridgeport-style machines. It is appropriate for cutting aluminum, steel, cast iron, and similar materials in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. The 5/8 inch shank diameter is compatible with standard ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders. Machinists, tool and die makers, and general machine shop technicians are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as a general-purpose square end mill for use in standard 5/8 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon-style tool holders on manual and CNC milling machines.
Installation is performed by machinists or machine tool operators. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify the shank is fully seated and the tool holder is torqued to the holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to avoid premature tool wear or chatter.
