The HERTEL E803211602 is a single-end square end mill designed for peripheral and slot milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M7 high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it offers increased surface hardness and extended tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutter measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and runs six spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry make it compatible with standard vertical and horizontal milling machine spindles. This end mill is not center-cutting and is intended for side milling, profiling, and slotting passes rather than plunge entry.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose machining applications in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The 0.75-inch shank diameter fits standard R8, CAT, BT, and NMTB toolholders commonly found on knee mills and CNC machining centers. The 3.875-inch overall length provides adequate reach for typical workpiece setups without excessive overhang. Machinists working in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials will find the M7 HSS substrate and TiN finish appropriate for moderate to high cutting speeds where solid carbide tooling is not required.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement end mill for any milling setup accepting a 0.75-inch shank diameter, including R8 collets, ER collets, and shell mill arbors sized for 3/4-inch shanks on vertical knee mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is clean and fully seated in the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces part accuracy. This tool is not designed for plunge cutting — use a ramping or helical entry strategy when entering a closed pocket.
