The HERTEL E8031919 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining shops. Ground from M7 high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it offers solid wear resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The cutter runs a 1 inch diameter with four spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle, right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration. With a 1-7/8 inch length of cut and 3/4 inch shank diameter, it fits standard milling chucks and collet holders without adapters. This is a non-centercutting tool and is not intended for plunge entry. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers.
This end mill suits horizontal and vertical knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual bridgeport-style machines running side milling, slotting, and peripheral cuts. The regular-length geometry keeps deflection low on moderate-depth passes. It is well suited for production environments where M7 HSS holds up to interrupted cuts and interrupted entries better than carbide in certain workholding setups. The 30-degree helix promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces chatter on steel, aluminum, and similar stock.
Designed for use in milling machines accepting a 3/4 inch straight shank, including ER collet systems, Weldon-style end mill holders, and hydraulic chucks sized for 3/4 inch tooling.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque the drawbar or set screw to the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut. Because this tool is non-centercutting, do not plunge directly into solid material — use a ramping or pre-drilled entry.
