The HERTEL E8031056 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M7 high speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced heat buildup during cuts. The 7/8 inch diameter and 4-flute spiral geometry produce clean, accurate square-shoulder profiles, slots, and pockets. With a 30-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting and flute direction, it moves chips efficiently and maintains stable cutting at moderate speeds. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this end mill for knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual vertical mills.
This end mill is suited for shop operations requiring consistent stock removal in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The regular length format and 1-7/8 inch length of cut make it appropriate for typical slot and peripheral milling applications where extended reach is not needed. The matching 7/8 inch shank diameter ensures a rigid fit in standard ER or side-lock toolholders. It is a non-centercutting tool, so plunge milling is not an intended application. Setup in a CNC or manual machining environment follows standard R8, CAT, or BT toolholder practices.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill with a 7/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 7/8 inch shanks on manual and CNC vertical milling machines.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and power locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. This is a non-centercutting end mill — do not use it for direct plunge entry into solid material.
