The HERTEL E799921158 is a single-end square end mill designed for milling flat surfaces, slots, and shoulders in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 3.25 inch overall length, making it suited for moderate-depth profiling and peripheral milling operations. Manufactured from M42 high speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, the tool delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 30-degree helix angle and two-flute spiral geometry promote efficient chip evacuation in a range of machining applications. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this end mill in manual and CNC machining environments.
This end mill is appropriate for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where a 0.5 inch shank is accepted. The two-flute design provides chip clearance well suited to slotting and plunge-capable operations. Center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling setups. It is intended for light to medium material removal in tool steel, alloy steel, stainless, and similar materials where TiCN coating provides a lubricity and hardness advantage over uncoated tools.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use end mill for any milling machine or machining center accepting a 0.5 inch straight shank end mill holder or collet.
Installation is performed by a machinist using a compatible end mill holder, collet chuck, or Weldon-style holder sized for a 0.5 inch shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing tooling. Confirm holder runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut to prevent premature tool wear or edge chipping. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
