The HERTEL E799921155 is a 2-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in machine shop and manufacturing environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutter measures 0.4375 inches (7/16 inch) in diameter with a 0.8125-inch (13/16 inch) length of cut and a 0.375-inch (3/8 inch) shank diameter. Overall length is 2.6875 inches (2-11/16 inches). The 30-degree spiral helix and right-hand cut geometry promote smooth chip evacuation during side milling and slotting. Machinists and toolroom operators working in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance departments are the typical users.
This end mill is suited for side milling, slotting, and light profiling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where HSS tooling is appropriate. The centercutting design allows it to plunge directly into a workpiece without a pre-drilled entry hole, expanding its usefulness in die work and mold work. It fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and other toolholding systems accepting a 3/8-inch shank. The 2-flute configuration leaves more chip clearance than 4-flute designs, making it a common choice for softer materials and applications where chip packing is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use end mill for manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and toolroom mills equipped with toolholding systems accepting a 3/8-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured to the correct torque specification per the toolholder manufacturer before starting the spindle. Confirm shank engagement depth meets the toolholder minimum grip requirement before clamping. Inspect the collet or end mill holder for wear, runout, and cleanliness before seating the tool.
