The HERTEL E799921151 is a two-flute, single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, it offers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutting diameter is 0.3125 inches (5/16 inches), with a 0.5625-inch (9/16 inches) length of cut and a 3/8-inch shank diameter that fits standard collets and tool holders. Overall length is 2.5 inches. The 30-degree spiral helix and right-hand cut with right-hand flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This tool is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel, cast iron, aluminum, and brass. The centercutting design allows plunge cutting directly into workpiece material without pre-drilling, making it practical for pocket milling and ramping applications. The 2-flute configuration provides larger chip clearance, which is particularly useful when milling softer or gummy materials where chip packing is a concern. It is appropriate for light-to-medium material removal passes in both conventional and climb milling setups.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill with a 3/8-inch straight shank, compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles accepting 3/8-inch shank tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool from its holder. Ensure the shank is seated to the full recommended engagement depth in the collet or holder, and torque the retention hardware according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut.
