The HERTEL E7039048 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for metal removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with improved wear resistance over standard HSS tooling. It features a 0.75-inch cutting diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 0.75-inch straight shank. The 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole, adding flexibility in programming and setup. With a regular-length classification and 3.875-inch overall length, it fits standard tool holders and collet chucks used in everyday shop operations. It is well matched to applications where TiCN coating provides the edge life advantage needed over uncoated tooling.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement end mill for use in 3/4-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills accepting a 0.75-inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before installing or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque set screws or collet nuts to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use, and confirm runout with a dial indicator when tight tolerances are required.
