The HERTEL E7030012 is a 2-flute cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations that demand toughness and heat resistance. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this single-end tool features a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that extends tool life by reducing friction and wear at the cutting edge. With a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and a 7/16 inch length of cut, it handles slotting, profiling, and plunge cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without pre-drilling. Machinists and toolroom operators rely on this geometry for precision work in tight cavities and contoured features.
This end mill is suited for manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills in job shop and production environments. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders common across light to mid-duty setups. The 2-5/16 inch overall length provides adequate reach for most standard-depth workpieces while maintaining rigidity. It is a practical choice for shops cutting alloy steels, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt grade tooling outperforms standard HSS in higher-heat applications.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 3/16 inch diameter, 3/8 inch shank, 2-flute square end mills in standard end mill holders and collet chucks. Fits any spindle tooling rated for 3/8 inch shank end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines for tool changeout and torque on collet nuts or setscrews.
