The HERTEL E699924734 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The ball nose geometry produces contoured profiles, radii, and three-dimensional surfaces that flat end mills cannot reach. At 0.25 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 3-flute configuration, this tool balances chip clearance with cutting edge density for smooth finishes at elevated feed rates. A 30-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and wear resistance. The TiN coating adds a layer of surface hardness and reduces tool-to-workpiece friction, extending tool life in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
This ball end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills performing profiling, contouring, slotting, and finish passes on molds, dies, and complex part geometries. The single-end design and 0.25-inch shank diameter fit standard ER and straight-bore collet systems commonly found in vertical machining centers. The 2.5-inch overall length provides adequate reach for shallow-to-moderate cavity work without sacrificing rigidity. Applications span prototype shops, production machining, and tool-and-die operations working in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct procurement option for 0.25-inch shank ball end mill applications in standard ER collet chucks and straight-bore tool holders used on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or tool holder and torque the collet nut to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting program, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish.
