The HERTEL E6060020 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.3125-inch (5/16-inch) cutting diameter and four right-hand flutes, it delivers clean, accurate cuts in contoured surfaces, pockets, and complex 3D profiles. The 1.125-inch length of cut (LOC) provides adequate reach for moderate-depth passes, while the TiN (titanium nitride) coating extends tool life by reducing friction and improving wear resistance at the cutting edge. This tool is sold as a single-end configuration with a right-hand cutting direction, suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills used by machinists and tooling professionals.
This ball end mill is used in ferrous and non-ferrous metal machining, including steel, aluminum, and cast iron. It is well suited for die and mold work, contour milling, slotting, and finish profiling where a consistent ball-nose radius is required. The 0.3125-inch shank diameter allows it to seat securely in standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders commonly used in production and job shop environments. The 3-inch overall length (OAL) keeps deflection manageable during full-depth profiling passes.
Designed as a standard single-end ball nose carbide end mill with a 5/16-inch shank, compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting that shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the end mill. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation to confirm proper seating. Follow the tooling manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the workpiece material.
