The HERTEL E5018008 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 0.125 inch cutting diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, this tool handles profiling, contouring, and slotting in tight geometries where rigidity and edge retention are critical. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. At 3 inches overall length with a 1/8 inch shank, it fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders common on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The bright, uncoated carbide substrate performs well in aluminum, plastics, and other non-ferrous workpieces without coating-related built-up edge concerns.
This end mill is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and production environments running contour milling, 3D surfacing, and radius profiling on small-scale features. The single-end configuration is standard for replaceable tooling programs. Its compact diameter makes it a go-to for detail work, mold and die finishing, and fine-feature machining where larger diameter tools cannot reach. Machinists working on CNC vertical machining centers or high-speed spindles will find the two-flute design favorable for chip clearance in softer materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use ball end mill compatible with any machine spindle accepting a 1/8 inch straight shank via ER collet, end mill holder, or precision collet chuck.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is placed in an E-stop or locked-out state before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the collet or holder and torque the retention nut per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to improper handling.
