The HERTEL E499921168 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Ground from M42 high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tool delivers extended wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS. The 7/16 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 3/8 inch shank, giving machinists a solid setup for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into workpieces without pre-drilling. This end mill is installed and replaced by machinists and toolroom technicians on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
Suited for use in job shops, production machining, and maintenance machining applications. The 1-3/4 inch length of cut supports moderate-depth slotting and side milling passes in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The 3-3/4 inch overall length provides sufficient reach for standard workholding setups without excessive deflection risk. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration make this a direct fit for conventional spindle rotation on the vast majority of vertical and horizontal milling machines. The TiN coating helps maintain edge life in ferrous and non-ferrous cutting applications.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement end mill compatible with 3/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style tool holders on vertical and horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers.
End mills should be installed and replaced by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque set screws to the tool holder specification. Inspect runout with a dial indicator after installation to confirm acceptable concentricity before beginning the cut.
