The HERTEL E499915669 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers added heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it suitable for tougher materials and higher cutting speeds. The 0.25-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1.25-inch length of cut and a 0.375-inch shank diameter. Overall length is 3.125 inches. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating further extends tool life by reducing friction at the cutting edge. Licensed machinists and CNC operators rely on this geometry for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where a standard-reach, single-end tool is appropriate. The coarse pitch, 3-flute configuration provides good chip clearance during slotting and plunge operations. A 25-degree helix angle balances cutting pressure and surface finish. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional spindle-direction setups. It is a regular-length design intended for shop-floor production and maintenance machining work.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill compatible with 0.375-inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, and side-lock holders used in vertical and horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from any holder. Verify shank engagement depth meets the holder manufacturer's minimum specification before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged edge can cause workpiece deflection or tool breakage.
