The HERTEL E4040064 is a 1-inch diameter, 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for heavy-duty milling operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance that standard HSS tooling cannot match. The TiN (titanium nitride) coating extends tool life by reducing friction and surface wear. With a 4-inch length of cut and a 6.5-inch overall length, this is a long-series end mill suited for deep-pocket and long-reach applications. A licensed machinist or toolroom professional installs and operates this tooling on manual or CNC milling equipment.
This end mill is suited for milling applications that demand extended reach or deep-pocket cutting in materials such as alloy steel, stainless steel, tool steel, and other tough ferrous metals. The long length of cut range, starting at 2 inches and extending to 4 inches, makes it appropriate for die work, mold work, and production milling where standard-length tooling falls short. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC machining center setups.
Designed as a standard long-series square end mill for use in milling machines and machining centers that accept a 1-inch straight shank toolholder.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Secure the shank fully in a collet chuck or end mill holder and verify runout before cutting. Confirm spindle direction matches the right-hand cut designation before engaging the workpiece. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended torque specifications when clamping.
