The HERTEL E299914080 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this single-end tool features a 7/32-inch (0.2188-inch) cutting diameter, a 1/4-inch length of cut, and a 3/8-inch shank diameter. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during peripheral and slot milling. At 2-1/8 inches overall length, this compact tool suits short-reach applications where rigidity matters. It is uncoated and runs best with appropriate cutting fluids. Licensed machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers select this style for general-purpose milling work.
This end mill fits light to medium-duty milling applications in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The centercutting geometry allows plunge cutting as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills. It is well suited for profiling, contouring, and pocketing operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other ferrous alloys where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for its toughness and regrindability.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for standard 3/8-inch collets and end mill holders used on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers requiring a 7/32-inch diameter square end mill.
Install in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification before beginning any cut. Confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut designation before engaging the workpiece. Follow shop safety protocols including eye protection and secure workholding. Use appropriate cutting fluid or mist coolant for the material being machined to maximize tool life.
