The HERTEL E299914061 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it well suited for harder workpiece materials and interrupted cuts. The cutter features a 0.5 inch diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into a workpiece. With two flutes and right-hand cut and flute direction, this end mill is a go-to choice for general-purpose milling in a variety of shop environments.
This end mill is used in manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills across job shops, maintenance departments, and production facilities. The extended reach design, with a reach length of 2.25 inches, accommodates deeper pockets and shoulder milling where clearance is needed. The 0.5 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and side-lock holders common in both vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is appropriate for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other ferrous and non-ferrous materials at moderate to aggressive feed rates. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers and operators.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock cutting tool for use in any milling machine spindle accepting a 0.5 inch shank, including ER32 and ER40 collet systems, Weldon side-lock holders, and similar standard end mill toolholders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with end mill toolholding practices. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the holder to prevent pullout under cutting load. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material and operation.
