The HERTEL E211202801 is a double-end ball end mill designed for contouring, profiling, and finish milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M7 high speed steel with an uncoated finish, this tool features a 0.4375-inch diameter ball nose geometry and a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix. The double-end configuration extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends. With 2 flutes and a regular-length body, it is suited for moderate-depth slotting and peripheral milling where a smooth radius form is required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, toolrooms, and maintenance environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines. The 0.8125-inch length of cut is well matched to shallow-to-moderate pocket depths and contour passes. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard R8, CAT, BT, and ER collet toolholding systems common in both CNC and manual setups. Its M7 HSS construction handles interrupted cuts and general-purpose milling at conventional speeds without the brittleness risk associated with carbide in impact-prone applications.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or standard-stock ball end mill for any milling machine or machining center accepting a 0.5-inch straight shank toolholder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in E-stop before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the drawbar or clamping nut to the toolholder specification — do not use arbor-press force to seat the tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator after securing the tool, as excessive runout on a ball nose geometry accelerates uneven wear and degrades surface finish.
