The HERTEL E211201801 is a double-end ball end mill designed for milling, profiling, and contouring operations on a wide range of materials. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 0.2813-inch cutting diameter and a 0.5625-inch length of cut. The 2-flute, spiral geometry with a 30-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation during machining. With a 3/8-inch shank diameter and 3.125-inch overall length, this regular-length tool is suited to CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling setups. Machinists and toolroom operators working with aluminum, mild steel, plastics, and similar workpiece materials will find this a dependable general-purpose end mill.
This ball end mill is appropriate for light-to-medium material removal on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending effective tool life before replacement is needed. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on conventional milling equipment. It is well suited to profiling 3D contours, ramp milling, and finishing passes where a spherical nose profile is required.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production ball end mill for use in standard 3/8-inch collets, ER-style collet chucks, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before loading or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention system per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and reduces surface finish quality on ball-nose tools.
