The HERTEL E2111012 is a single-end cobalt ball end mill designed for milling contoured surfaces, slots, and complex profiles in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS tools cannot match in demanding cutting conditions. The 0.1875-inch cutting diameter and 2-flute geometry produce clean chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in both roughing and light finishing passes. With a 30-degree right-hand spiral flute and an uncoated finish, this end mill suits applications where re-sharpening or regrinding is preferred over coated tooling.
This end mill is suited for manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills operating at appropriate speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling. The 0.5-inch length of cut handles moderate-depth passes in slots and pockets, while the 1.125-inch reach length allows access to features with slight clearance requirements. Typical users include machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. The 3/8-inch shank fits standard R8, ER, and side-lock toolholders common in job shop and production environments.
Designed as a standard single-end ball end mill with a 3/8-inch shank diameter, compatible with toolholders sized for 3/8-inch round shanks including ER collet chucks, set-screw holders, and R8 collet systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Ensure the shank is inserted to the full recommended grip depth in the toolholder and that set screws or collet nuts are torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, and confirm speeds and feeds are appropriate for M42 cobalt tooling in the specific workpiece material. Never exceed the rated length of cut depth in a single pass without confirming tool deflection is within acceptable limits.
