The HERTEL E2080022 is a cobalt square end mill designed for general-purpose milling, slotting, profiling, and peripheral cutting in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 11/32-inch (0.3438 inch) cutting diameter and a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, giving it a long-reach geometry suited for deeper pockets and shoulder cuts. The 3/8-inch shank diameter and 3-1/4-inch overall length make it compatible with standard milling chucks and collet systems. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. Installed by machinists and tool and die professionals, this end mill is a reliable choice for ferrous and non-ferrous stock removal.
This end mill is well suited for job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation during conventional and climb milling passes. Its centercutting design allows direct plunge entry into workpiece material without a pre-drilled start hole, reducing setup steps on manual and CNC vertical mills. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is the standard orientation for the majority of vertical milling machine spindles. The uncoated finish makes it a cost-effective option for aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and general alloy work where coating is not required.
Designed as a standard replacement or stocking end mill for vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills accepting a 3/8-inch shank collet or end mill holder.
This end mill is installed by machinists using a collet chuck or end mill holder sized for a 3/8-inch shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after securing the tool in the holder to maximize tool life and surface finish quality. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when selecting feeds and speeds for the workpiece material.
