The HERTEL E2051018 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this double-end tool offers a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) cutting diameter with a 11/16 inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle. The spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With four flutes and a right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction, this end mill is suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 3/8 inch shank diameter and 3-3/8 inch overall length place it in a standard reach configuration used across a wide range of vertical and horizontal milling setups.
This end mill is intended for machine shop environments, tool rooms, and maintenance operations where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for its toughness and regrindability. The double-end design effectively provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool value in production or job-shop settings. It is used with standard collet chucks, end mill holders, or Weldon-style holders that accept a 3/8 inch shank. This tool is not center-cutting, so it is not suited for direct plunge operations without a pilot hole or ramping entry strategy.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, or Weldon-flat holders on vertical mills, horizontal mills, and CNC machining centers. Not center-cutting — plunge milling requires pre-drilled entry or a ramping toolpath.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank to the rated minimum insertion depth specified by the tool holder manufacturer before tightening. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are within recommended ranges for cobalt tooling and the workpiece material before engaging the cut. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before each use.
