The HERTEL E2050032 is a 2-flute cobalt square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in ferrous and tough alloy materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention under demanding cutting conditions. The 1/2 inch diameter cutter features a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, promoting efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a bright, uncoated finish, this end mill is suited for applications where coating adhesion is not required or where regrinding is anticipated. Centercutting capability allows plunge milling in addition to peripheral and slot cuts. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this type of tool in manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is appropriate for milling slots, pockets, profiles, and contours in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The regular-length geometry, with a 13/16 inch length of cut and 3-3/4 inch overall length, suits standard reach requirements without sacrificing rigidity. The 1/2 inch straight shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders commonly found in job shop and production environments. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation is standard for conventional and climb milling operations on vertical and horizontal machining setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cobalt square end mill compatible with standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, ER collet systems, and Weldon-style tool holders used in vertical and horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before changing or seating the tool. Verify holder bore cleanliness and proper runout before tightening to avoid premature tool wear or breakage. Consult the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for cobalt end mills in the target material.
