The HERTEL E2050024 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in metal-cutting applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this double-end tool delivers extended tool life in harder ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 9/16 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree spiral helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The uncoated finish makes it straightforward to resharpen. With centercutting geometry, it is capable of plunge cutting as well as peripheral and slot milling. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill suits general-purpose slot milling, profiling, and face milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending the service life per tool. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders commonly found in both manual Bridgeport-style mills and CNC vertical machining centers. The 3-1/8 inch overall length keeps the tool compact for improved rigidity in standard-reach applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling addition for any milling setup accepting a 3/8 inch shank end mill in standard ER collet chucks, Weldon holders, or end mill holders.
End mill installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Ensure the shank is fully seated and secured in the holder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Inspect the collet or holder for wear before mounting. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when setting speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling.
